- Shipping: we post gifts within 10 days, to addresses in the United States.
- At checkout: fill in your shipping address and, for the T-shirt or hoodie, your size (S to 3XL), so we know what to send and where.
- Giving one-time? One-time gifts don’t include a welcome gift, so skip both questions. Thank you!
- Taxes: your receipt states the gift’s fair market value, and your deductible amount is your donation minus that value.
Donation questions
How do I change or cancel my monthly donation?
Use the link in any receipt or recurring plan email from Givebutter, or sign in at givebutter.com/login with the email you gave with. Givebutter sends you a one-time code, so there is no password to remember. From your plan you can change the amount, update your card or bank details, pause, or cancel. A new amount starts with your next monthly charge. You can also email info@bigmarvslegacy.com and we will help you do it.
When will I get my welcome gift?
We pack gifts once a week and post them within 10 days of your first monthly payment clearing. It is a one-time thank-you for starting a monthly donation, not a monthly delivery. If you move up to a higher tier later, we will send that tier’s gift too. If two weeks pass and nothing has arrived, email us and we will chase it.
Do one-time donors get a gift?
No, the welcome gifts are for monthly donors. That is why the shipping address and size questions at checkout are optional. If you are giving monthly, please fill them in, or we will have nowhere to post your gift. If you are giving once, skip them.
Which payment methods work for monthly gifts?
Monthly gifts work with a card, a bank account, PayPal, Apple Pay and Google Pay. Venmo works for one-time gifts only, because Givebutter does not offer it for monthly plans.
What is the tip on the donation form?
Our donation form is run by Givebutter, who charge us nothing to use it. Instead they ask donors for an optional tip. That tip goes to Givebutter, not to Big Marv’s Legacy. You can change it or set it to zero, and the amount we receive is exactly the same either way. We would rather be straight with you about it than hide it.
Is my donation tax deductible?
Big Marv’s Legacy is a registered 501(c)(3), so donations are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law. Where we send a welcome gift, the deductible amount is your donation minus the fair market value of the gift, and that value is stated on your receipt. Any tip you leave for Givebutter is not a donation to us and is not deductible as one.
Is it safe, and can I give another way?
Payments are processed by Givebutter, so your card and bank details never touch this website. If you would rather send a check, email info@bigmarvslegacy.com for our mailing address. You can also buy from our shop (every purchase funds the rescue), send supplies from our wish list, or foster a dog, which saves us more money than most donations do.
Other ways to help
Money is not the only thing that keeps a dog alive. A spare room, a car, or an afternoon does the same work. Every purchase from our merch shop funds the rescue: proceeds pay for food, vet care, and outreach supplies.
